HS2
We will have a new boss to run HS2 he is Sir David Higgins who oversaw the Olympics they say that he brought it in on cost but that's not quite true the original cost was £3.7 billion but ended up at £9.8 billion. But we always get the excuse that we had contingency costs etc. he says that Britain needs it but he would say that he has to justify his £591,000 salary perhaps if he took a substantial cut in his salary would go a small way to reducing the escalating cost. We are told that its cost had increased from £33 billion to now £50 billion and we haven't started to build it. So what will be the final cost no body knows. We have only to look at the costs of Concorde and the channel tunnel and their final construction cost billions over the original predicted cost. It's always the same with these so called experts non of them can give you a true cost they make the same excuses that there are things that could go wrong or that aren't foreseen. I was In favour of a high speed train but if we want it lets build it from the north to the south not the way that it is predicted. Again though Virgin say that it takes 2 hours 8 minutes to go from Manchester to London HS2 will knock about half an hour of this time not cost affective it would be better to spend this fifty billion on improving the motorway infrastructure that would benefit more of the travelling public. As for over crowded trains put more carriages on. But then we get the excuse that we don't have any or they will be In the wrong area at certain times.
