Are the British consumers being played? Whilst gas bill have increased by 41% and electric by 20% since 2007 our continental allies have seen their utility bills increase nothing like ours, the big six utility companies have seen their profits rise to around £10 billion. While EDF of France and Scottish power owned by Spanish companies can't increase their bills in France, Spain, Portugal,Belgium, Denmark,Greece and Italy because price rises are fixed by these countries governments. So is it any wonder that these companies increase their prices in Britain and blame the increases on market forces, so that they can keep profits up for their share holders. When Ed Miliband talks about holding or freezing prices for 20 months if he becomes prime minister we have to many people in the government and other positions saying that this can't be done. But are these deserting voices people who have financial concerns with the big six? If Britain owned these companies instead of foreign investers then perhaps we would see our bills falling by a substantial amount. But more importantly isn't it about time that we had a government that now thought more about the people of this country than the profits of foreign owned companies.

iPCC
The IPCC meeting has come up with a report that says basically that humans are responsible for the increase in climate change over the past fifty or so years. But what can they do if China and India are building a new coal fired power station on average every week. Yet the west is now suppost to be dealing with the so called green agenda that is costing the average British household an extra £200 a year more on their utility bills. They once complained about people travelling abroad on their annual holiday, but it's ok for these organisations such as the G7 and G20 and these other forums on water pollution and climate change to meet in exotic places that can only get there by aeroplane there was one a few years ago where 35,000 so called delegates came this is the equivalent of 70 jumbo jets full Many of these meeting could be done via video conferencing, but they don't want that because they would not be able to stop in these top hotels paid for by the public. They should practice what they preach, and find more ways to meet economically, and save the planet.

HS2
We will have a new boss to run HS2 he is Sir David Higgins who oversaw the Olympics they say that he brought it in on cost but that's not quite true the original cost was £3.7 billion but ended up at £9.8 billion. But we always get the excuse that we had contingency costs etc. he says that Britain needs it but he would say that he has to justify his £591,000 salary perhaps if he took a substantial cut in his salary would go a small way to reducing the escalating cost. We are told that its cost had increased from £33 billion to now £50 billion and we haven't started to build it. So what will be the final cost no body knows. We have only to look at the costs of Concorde and the channel tunnel and their final construction cost billions over the original predicted cost. It's always the same with these so called experts non of them can give you a true cost they make the same excuses that there are things that could go wrong or that aren't foreseen. I was In favour of a high speed train but if we want it lets build it from the north to the south not the way that it is predicted. Again though Virgin say that it takes 2 hours 8 minutes to go from Manchester to London HS2 will knock about half an hour of this time not cost affective it would be better to spend this fifty billion on improving the motorway infrastructure that would benefit more of the travelling public. As for over crowded trains put more carriages on. But then we get the excuse that we don't have any or they will be In the wrong area at certain times.

Nurse numbers to be published daily
Some MP's want hospitals to publish each day the numbers of nurses on their wards. This again is just another sop by these out of touch MP's. Just employ more nurses, but you can bet that if this policy is implemented it will only create more people checking numbers it won't help. I was in Blackpool Hospital nine years ago and the nurse said that she was fed up with the bureaucracy, she was under stress yet this woman came round four times a day asking her how many beds were occupied or empty. But the point that really got her upset was that this woman was on a third more pay that her. Yet she was dealing every day with life and death situations.

Islam and the veil
The court case that is being debated whether a woman can wear a veil in court has not to be decided by the courts but by the Islamic Imams and scholars. Some say that it is in the Koran others say that the Koran tells people to dress modestly it doesn't say that the veil is require So first the Islamic leaders have to decide who is right and who is wrong. The veil has been banned in public in both France and Belgium. When the law of the land and the religions clash in such cases the law of the land must come first for the benefit of all the population.
