When people complain about immigration and the numbers coming into this country the do gooders always talk about the numbers of British people who live and work in Europe. Yet when they talk about the 750,000 Britain's who are in Spain they always fail to mention that these Britain's are mostly retired and have taken money with them into Spain and are not relying on benefits from this country. As for the Britain's who go to work in Europe they are mostly in permanent jobs. The biggest trouble goes back to the 1950's when there was an influx of people from India and Pakistan, these families not only brought their children, but most came with aged relatives who were never going to work but were drawing old age pensions and other benefits from a system that they had never contributed too. In the 50,s this might have been sustainable but today it isn't, and they were Commonwealth countries, and therefore had ties to Britain. The emerging countries from Eastern Europe have nothing in common with Britain. People in authority in Brussels say that there is freedom of labour movement with in the EU. That immigrants have the rights to the same benefits of the member state that they reside in. Now that may be OK when people move from Britain to France or Germany or visa verse. If people from the poorer Eastern block countries come to the Western countries they receive larger benefits than they do in their country of origin. so is it any wonder that they come to the West, but would Western people move to what were the Eastern block countries where their benefits are less. I don't think so. When football players come to play with British clubs they need a work permit before they are eligible to play. So why doesn't this system apply to workers who come here, they need the permit before they are allowed into the country. Freedom of labour is a system that is loaded in the benefit of eastern people not western people and is therefore biased one way. Is it any wonder that people are not getting upset at the inequality of the system that the people in authority don't seen or don't want to accept.
